Building a house… out of the shell of a garage poses many problems but none more obvious than having a giant garage door.

We played with every option. Glass front door (looks cool but not very insulated), brick in the hole (doesn’t work for Cassie bc she wants lots of light) or a store front glass wall. Cost wise, all three options were about the same.

After weighing all of the options, we found a glass company and would help us do industrial storefront glass for our wall. It would give us the open, light feel that we wanted but with doors and a little better insulation than the garage door offered.

I’m obsessed with the light that the wall provides. We really wanted to blur the lines between inside and outside space since the house is so small. I joke that we built a space that makes you want to go outside.
