This is the journey of the American dream turned upside down. We are dumping 2,700 sq ft of beautiful mid-town bungalow to live in an old 700 sq ft RV garage on two acres just outside of Shreveport, LA.

 

The First Chunk

Because the building was an RV garage, the front of the building was low for cars to drive in with a higher step up in the back for the “pool house”. Our first step was to pour concrete into the garage section to level the entire building to the same height.

Yes! We bought a dump of an old RV garage on two acres that we plan on turning into a “tiny house”. A typical tiny house is 500 sq ft or less. Well, this bad boy is 730 sq ft of pure… leaking, dingy, unkept mess.

Downsizing

There she is. A beautiful 2,400 sq ft bungalow in the middle of town. A ten minute walk to Starbucks, five minutes to the park and most importantly, Johnny’s Pizza a mere five minute walk away. It was perfect. With a 400 sq ft apartment/office above garage, it had everything we would ever need.
